http://www.cosamin.com/veterinary/forum2.cfm?Topic=838 Date: July 21, 2004 Author: Jennifer Subject: Cosequin Equine Powder for Dog We just purchased a new container of Cosequin Equine powder for our horse and had used about a week's worth when unfortunately he became ill and is no longer with us. Our dog vet had recommended glucosamine for our greyhound who has broken her leg twice and I had recently purchased a liquid product for her, but I am wondering if I can give her the equine power and if so, what would be the dosage? She weighs 66 lbs. Thank you. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: August 02, 2004 Author: Nancy Loes, DVM Subject: re: Cosequin Equine Powder for Dog Dear Ms. Nash, Please accept our condolences at the loss of your horse. Yes, you may give your greyhound Cosequin Equine Powder. Please note that because the ratio of glucosamine to chondroitin sulfate is different in the Cosequin Equine Powder than the ratio in the dog formulation, an absolute direct correlation with administration amounts between the two products is not possible. Having noted that issue, you could start your pet on one scoop of Cosequin Equine Powder once a day. Once you use up the Cosequin Equine Powder, it would be more economical going forward to maintain your pet on the dog formulation, CosequinDS which is available in capsule form as well as in a tasty, chewable tablet taken as a treat!). If you have any further questions, or would like a client brochure about Cosequin, please contact our Technical Services Department at 1-800-925-5187 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm time eastern time Monday through Friday. Best wishes, Nancy Loes, DVM Veterinary Science Division Nutramax Laboratories, Inc.
